I posted on my site about this article—thanks for putting it up. The difference between Penn and S.U. (other than the huge differential in endowment) is Penn’s commitment to housing and primary education in the residential neighborhoods surrounding the campus. Syracuse has little interest in the south and east side neighborhoods it borders, its interests are the commercial strip along E. Genesee and downtown.
